Insects as Food and Feed

With two pilot grants from the MSU Alliance for African Partnership program, we are developing Black Soldier Fly (BSF) Farms in Malawi and Uganda. While still in early stages, the overall goal is to develop small and medium scale BSF production facilities that will generate new jobs and economic growth using this sustainable insect to produce new protein sources for aquaculture and livestock production.  See our review of BSF and the need for alternative feed in Africa.
