Aquatic Entomology & Stream Ecology
ENT 422 (offered fall of odd years)
This course explores the ecology and taxonomy of aquatic insects, building on a century of aquatic entomology teaching and research at MSU.
Includes a lab component that focuses on developing an aquatic insect collection.
Co-listed in the Department of Fisheries and Wildlife and Department of Integrative Biology.
Targeted for advanced undergraduate and early graduate students.
Introduction to Forensic Entomology
ENT 422 (2018 and even years)
This course provides an introduction to forensic entomology, covering the basic biology and ecology of insects and other arthropods used in criminal investigation.
Also provides an introduction to methods used to interpret insect evidence of forensic importance such as death investigation.
Targeted for advanced undergraduate and early graduate students in the life sciences and Forensic Science Program.
Advanced Forensic Entomology
ENT 812 (Graduate Seminars)
This course assumes an introductory knowledge of forensic entomology and focuses on the collection, analyses and interpretation of insect evidence in mock death investigations.
Involves both field and laboratory collection and analysis of insects, writing a report and defending the report in a moot trial.
Targeted for graduate students in the life sciences and Forensic Science Program.
